Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan.
Mimi was born on March 27th, 1936 in Elkridge, Maryland to J. Frank and Mildred R. (Hastings)
Andrews.
Mimi married her sweetheart John “Richie” J. Grabowski on July 30th, 1955 at St. Augustine’s
Catholic Church in Elkridge. They lovingly raised two daughters; Suzanne Bergren (John) of
Howell, Michigan and Vicky (Tim) Grim of Severna Park, Maryland.
Mimi graduated from Howard High School and until recently met monthly with her classmates.
Mimi completed an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Catonsville Community
College. She decided early in life to join her husband Richie and “work the water” on the
Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland. Mimi and Richie made a living crabbing, fishing,
oystering and selling wholesale and retail the seafood they caught. Mimi was the first registered
female member of the Maryland Watermen's Association in the mid-1970’s. Mimi also ran the
marina that was part of their homestead. Mimi and her grandson “Wing” started a business
called Cap’t. Pete’s Eels catching, preparing, and selling eels to local fisherman for bait.
Mimi always had a mischievous twinkle in her hyacinth blue eyes. She was dearly loved by her
family, extended family and friends. A family member gracefully described Mimi’s passing as “a
light has gone out from our world”.
Mimi is survived by her two daughters, her beloved grandson Peter “Wing” Grabowski of
Portland, Oregon, her dear, loving sister Ruth Sherwood of Elkridge, and many nieces and
nephews. Mimi was preceded in death by her mother, husband, and father.
