Richard Lopez

Richard Lopez was born on January 6, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, Jesus and Jovita Lopez. Richard passed away on April 11, 2023 at age 88. Beloved husband of Virginia Lopez for 64 wonderful years. Loving father of Randy (Diana) Lopez, Elizabeth (David) Mathews, Richard (Tina Quiggens) Lopez Jr., and Rodney (Lori) Lopez. Dear grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 9. Dearest brother of the late Jesse Lopez, Anita Jimenez, the late Irene Layton, and Robert Lopez. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was an inspiration to many around him, he shared his love of sports with his children and those he coached for. He coached 6th grade softball for many years and was always teaching life skills and lessons to his children as they grew up. He also loved dancing, bowling and running marathons, in his earlier years he ran seven marathons. Richard was the person who was always there to help when you were in need, he was very caring and kind hearted. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation, Monday April 17, 2023 from 2PM-8PM with a Rosary service at 7PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home: 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48152. Funeral service, Tuesday April 18, 2023 at 11AM (gathering at 10AM) at Harry J Will Funeral Home-Livonia. Richard will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army in his honor.
