

Roger was born February 23, 1938, to the late Leonard and Clara. He was preceded in death by cherished wife, Patricia Aumann, to whom he was married for 57 wonderful years, as well as his brother Conrad (Joycelyn) Aumann. He is survived by his sister Christine (Richard) Habrecht and was the loving father of Michael (Sheri) and Stephen (Heather), grandfather of Brandon (Laura), Blaine (Trisha), Chelsea (Zach), Jacob, Kathryn and great grandfather of Abel and Asher.
Roger attended Valparaiso University, earning his bachelor’s degree in education. It was there he met his beloved Patricia. Before graduating, he was called to serve in the Navy where he specialized in submarines. Upon returning from the service and following his passion for education, Roger went on to receive a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in education administration and a master’s degree in divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. He spent 15 years as a teacher, administrator and coach for the Lutheran High School Association of Detroit before serving as Pastoral Minister at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Canton, Mich. for 20 years.
Roger enjoyed many outdoor activities at his cottage on Harsens Island, Mich., including waterfowl hunting, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his loved ones. He was also fond of gardening and baseball and an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers during a winning year.
A visitation for Roger will be held Friday, April 14, from 4-8pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48152. A funeral service will take place Saturday, April 15, at 11am (visitation prior at 10am) at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19109 Craig St., New Boston, MI 48164.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, New Boston, Mich., or to Lutheran Westland Music Program, Westland, Mich.
