Sofia Kosmidou

Sofia (a.k.a Sonia) Kosmidou was born on January 7, 1936, to Iakovos and Sotiria in a small town in Russia. At the age of 3, she left Russia for Florina, Greece, with her mama, Xrissi, and younger brother, Ioannis (a.k.a Vanos). Sonia married her soulmate Mitso in 1963 and immigrated to the United States twice, once in 1966 and once in 1988, calling Livonia and Sterling Heights home. Sonia passed away at the age of 86 on March 31, 2022, in Livonia, Michigan.

Sonia was a strong, independent woman, who dedicated her life to her family, her children and grandchildren. Along with her husband, Mitso, they were a force to be reckoned with and always propelled their family forward.

Dear sister of the late Ioannis (Panagiota) Fraggidis and Antonia (Vasilis) Nikou. Beloved wife of the late Dimitrios Kosmidis. Loving and devoted mother of Vasilios Kosmidis, and Chrissi (George) Tjilos. Proud and adoring yiayia of Sofia (Daniel), Dimitrios (Polixeni), and Ioanna Kosmidis, Maria, Michael, and Sofia Tjilos. Sonia was a loving aunt and loving cousin to many here in Michigan, Greece and Germany.

Visitation Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church: 39851 Five Mile Rd., Plymouth, MI. Committal service at Parkview Memorial Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
