Thomas Michael Trybuski

Thomas Michael Trybuski, age 78, of South Lyon, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Thomas was born on November 25, 1947, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Tom and Margaret (nee Vah) Trybuski.

Loving husband of Betty for 55 years. Beloved father of Michele (Jason) Rix, Laura (Michael) Zeigler, and Mike (Jamie) Trybuski. Proud papa of Madison, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Jacob, Jade, and Jewel. Cherished brother of Pamela Bolton and John (Rosemarie) Trybuski. He will be deeply missed by his in-laws and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fondly given the nickname Mickey (or Mick) by his mother, as a young cartoon enthusiast, he also adopted the name Mike by family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers alike. His passion to tinker with cars at a young age steered him to work as a mechanic, which later developed into a highly skilled trade career as a Diesel Mechanic for the Grow Group.

Growing up on the west side of Detroit, Mike and Betty met as kids when their friendship turned to romance in high school. When Mike was drafted by the army to serve in the Vietnam War (May 1969 to November 1970), Betty waited patiently and prayed for his safe return. Married in October 1971, they later moved to Redford Twp., started their family, and lived for 30 years before retiring to South Lyon.

Mike was deeply loved by all. His quick sense of humor, recognizable laugh, and magnetic personality made him the life of any party. His strong stance as a parent instantly softened as his family grew and he took on the role of Papa to his six cherished grandchildren.

Throughout his adult life, he was honorably recognized as the “Family Foreman” for his natural jack-of-all-trades ability to construct just about anything from the ground up. In his free time, he enjoyed Nascar racing, tooling around in the garage, rooting on his Detroit teams, and proudly watching his grandkids perform in dance recitals, school plays, and recreational sports.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, with a rosary service and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 pm.

Mike will lie in state on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory, 133 Orchard Dr, Northville, MI 48167, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 am.
