Walter was the loving husband of 61 wonderful years to the late Delphine. He was a devoted father to Gary, Greg (Vilija), and Camille (the late James) Krawczyk. Walter was a cherished grandfather to Michelle (Antonio) Barile and Erik Krawczyk, and a proud great-grandfather to his beloved Ella, whom he fondly called “the little one.” He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his siblings: John (Stella), Stanley (Marie), Joseph (Stella), Louise (Edgar), Mary (Joseph), Lottie (Robert), Andrew (Marie), Louis Jr (Angeline), Edward, and Henry.
A proud veteran of World War II, Walter served in the United States Army in Germany. He was awarded a World War II Victory Ribbon and Army Occupation Medal (Germany).
Walter was a devoted parishioner and usher at St. Colette Parish in Livonia, and he volunteered his time as a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith and sense of community were central to his life and the lives of those around him.
He took great joy in the success of his children and grandchildren, always proud of their accomplishments in their studies and careers. He was especially thrilled to watch his granddaughter Michelle play soccer and cherished many weekends enjoying lunch outings with his grandson Erik.
In his spare time, Walter enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns, playing cards, and traveling. He was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers, often watching their games with great enthusiasm.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Woodhaven Retirement Community and Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
