I knew CWO Gomes as RSM of 4 RCR when I was the Ops O. I always respected his advice and forthrightness. He was integral to the 4RCR family and added to the cohesion we enjoyed.  I am saddened by news of his passing and mourn his loss.  We shall miss him.

I met Buzz as  a young man, he taught me many things at 16 years old,  about army life. I am glad for it. Later in life I had the pleasure of working with Buzz again. I am deeply saddened, but I will always remember what he taught me. Buzz  made a difference, a true soldier he was.

When we hosted Seniors Day at the Raceway, I could always count on Buzz to be there early and do whatever needed to be done. He was a very kind, gentle man and he will be missed. Buzz and I attended school together many, many years ago in Halifax. We joined the Army, Buzz to the QOR and I, The Black Watch. In 1970 we both re-badged to The RCR.   A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since. A great sense of humour and a lot of stories. Buzz was a proud Royal and one of the good guys!  He will be missed.

My greatest condolences to all of the family. I served with Buzz in 4RCR. He was one of the greatest of leaders, a mentor, kind, and powerful presence of a man. Thank you Buzz, your memory lives on in all of us.

Although I didnt know Buzz personally,he was talked fondly of,& DEEPLY loved by the 3 special ladies I know,Dale.Yvonne, & Wanda. My condolances to the rest of the famiy as well. R.I.P Buzz,no more suffering.

Such a wonderful man. He was very much respected by my late husband, WO Yves Gagnon who also died of cancer, and myself.  I have no doubt that all of us will meet again one day.

My memories of you are the greatest memories I hold. You were and will always be a great man. All I know now is that Heaven is safe with you guarding the gates. Rest in Peace Bu you will be missed.

I had the honour and privilege of soldiering with Sergeant Major Gomes on several occasions. A fine soldier and a true gentleman he was a true Royal Canadian. A good man and a soldier worthy of his hire. We shall remember him. Pro Patria.

Very sad news.  I served with Buzz in both 1 RCR and 4 RCR and well remember both the enthusiasm and professionalism that he brought to all of his activities (as well as his intensity in any competition). I regret being unable to attend either the visitation or the funeral, but my thoughts will be of him and my condolences to all his family.
