James John Nelson

Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital on November 11, 2012, Jim Nelson of London in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Mary Nelson (1989). Dear father of Rebecca Wylie and partner John Englehart of Burlington, Liza Nelson of Amherstberg, Phil Nelson and his wife Elizabeth of Sarnia, John Nelson of London and daughter in law Joanne Baril. Loving grandfather of Paula, Ashley, Jennifer, Christopher, Erik, Emilie, and Kevyn. Great grandfather of Konnor, Owen, Madeline, and Eleanor. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Flosse Nelson, sisters Gertrude Wegg and Margaret Brown, and brother Kenneth Nelson. Jim was born in Lobo Township and served his country in the Second World War as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. He married Elizabeth at St. Mary’s Church in Slaugham, Sussex, England in 1946 and devoted over 40 years of his life to Maris Transport Ltd. of Oakville, Ontario. He was well known as “Number 1” by many of his fellow workers. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In memory of Jim, contributions to the Parkwood Hospital Foundation for Veteran’s care would be greatly appreciated.
