Sam was born October 30, 1950 in London. He is predeceased by his parents Samuel Edward Purcell and Della Isobel (nee Winnett).
Dear father of Tammie, Sarah (Colin), Lauren (Andrew), Edward, and step daughter Kathleen.
Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Ayla, Clark, Josephine (Joey) and Charlie.
Sam will be missed by his sister Dale (Wilf) and nieces Belinda (Brad) and Patti (Michael) and their families.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff on the 4th floor of St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and the Elgin Manor nursing staff (Robin's Way), for their kindness and compassion shown to Sam and our family, during this difficult time.
Sam retired from the London Fire Department in 2003 having served thirty years as a chauffeur and a Captain .
The complete funeral service will be held at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas St., London, Ontario) on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 at 11AM, followed by burial at Mount Pleasant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Fond memories can be left at www.needhamfuneralhome.com.
