

~Bonnie Sue Hoornaert, February 9, 1953 - July 2, 2013, a resident of Cypress, California, passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Hoornaert; her daughter, Jennifer Heath and her husband, George Heath; her stepson, Jason Hoornaert; her sister, Dori Levy and her husband, Barry Levy; her brother, Barry McCoy and his wife, Gina McCoy; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
~She was adopted at birth in Lakewood, Ohio, and moved with her family to Lakewood, California, at age 14. Bonnie graduated Lakewood High School in 1971, and then attended Long Beach City College. She worked in various capacities in the payroll department of J.T. Jenkins, Petrolane Oil Co., Pacific Healthcare, Filenet, IBM, and Bard Medical.
~Her civic contributions included: 1) being “Team Mom,” Treasurer, and President of Los Alamitos
Girls’ Softball League and 2) serving as Treasurer for the Philanthropic Educational Opportunities (PEO).
~She was loved by all whom she encountered. To know her was to love her, and each became her soul-mate. Bonnie was loving, non-judgmental, assertive, caring, nurturing, sweet-natured, helpful, fun-loving, and practical.
--Services will be held at Luyben’s Mortuary Chapel, 5161 E. Arbor Rd., Long Beach, CA 90808, (562) 425-6401, on Thursday, July 11, 2013, @ 10am. Immediately following the memorial service there will be a gathering at Bonnie and John’s home.
--In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Philanthropic Educational Opportunities (PEO) Chapter FJ, and send to: Ms. Carol Foster, 5408 Oleta St., Long Beach, CA 90815.
--A special thanks to her Oncology doctor, Greg Angstreich and his staff, of Newport Beach, for their valiant efforts during the past two years.
