Obituary/Remembrance
August 2, 1955 – July 12, 2025
Craig Howard Weigle was born August 2, 1955 in Pensacola, Florida to Lcdr. Howard Leroy Weigle and Susanna Jane Weigle. Craig was a kind, generous, and adventurous boy who climbed trees, loved reading and all animals. His father died when Craig was three years old. Family and Navy family then took him under their wings, especially his stepdad, Jack E. Norton. Jack, AKA Dad, loved Craig as his own.
After graduating from Palo Alto High School and attending college for a time, Craig joined the US Navy. He was honorably discharged.
Throughout his struggles with addiction and mental health, Craig loved fishing and the outdoors, his dog Cricket, and the Lord, whom he sought to serve by listening to others, especially to his fellow vets. His family is immensely grateful for the empathetic and skilled VA case workers and medical personnel who worked with and cared for Craig.
Craig died on July 12, 2025 in Long Beach California and will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery. He is survived by his sister, Deborah Ahlquist (Steve) of San Diego, three nephews, a niece, and their spouses; John (Robbie), Andrew (Andrew L.), Joel, (Jillian), and Elisabeth (Brady) -- and several cousins.
His terrier, Cricket, brought him much comfort and companionship. Therefore, his family suggests that you remember Craig by helping a veteran or by contributing time or funds to a canine rescue organization.
Craig was deeply loved in this life. May he now rest in God’s arms and know peace.
