On Friday March 6, 2014, Gary stayed home from work and asked me to go to breakfast with him. After breakfast he asked me to go shopping and we bought some donuts. Then we went shopping, and after a couple of stores he suggested we go to the beach and look at the big waves and surfers surfing. As we fed the birds and a couple of squirrels he was behaving kind of different. My daughter Andrea also noticed how doting he was being, as if he was trying to spoil me. All day he wanted to just spend time with me. After the beach we came home and he suggested we go to dinner and again he brought some more sweets, like baklava, and was also going to get ice cream. I asked, “You must have a sweet tooth today.” He was trying to give me all his attention and gifts all day. Then as the day was ending he suggested I go buy movie passes at Costco and asked me to go to the movies. I was puzzled because he really doesn’t like to go to the walk in Theatre. He wanted to go with me and please me because I wanted to see Pompeii. Then he fell ill that night at 4 am. I didn’t realize it until later that he sensed something was going to change in our lives and he was trying to let me know how much he loved me. I am thankful for our last day together and all the great years of fun we had. He fulfilled my life with lots and lots of adventures. Everyone that knows us and has gone camping to Mexico, Vegas, Lake Powell 3-Q’s etc., knows how fun big Gary was. He always made people laugh and did a lot of funny things. I will miss my husband Gary immensely. I will always love you Gary.
Gary loved our kids and he truly loved those grandkids, he also loved each and every one of his friends from McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. All his co-workers made a great impression on his life. He also reminisced about all the friends he grew up with from South Gate. I want all of you to know how much Gary loved all your friendships and the good times, especially my family, the kids, grandkids, my sister and brother, my father and ma ma Rosie. He truly enjoyed all the birthdays and bar-b-q’s and camping trips, and most of all spending time with all of you.
