Gilbert John Gutierrez III

Gilbert (Gil) John Gutierrez III, 32, of Long Beach, CA passed away suddenly on Friday October 28th, 2016. Gil was born in Bellflower, CA on June 2nd,1984. He spent the first 3 years of his life in Paramount, California and then moved to Lakewood, California where he would spend the majority of his life. He went to Esther Lindstrom Elementary school and then went on to Mayfair Middle and High School. He graduated from Mayfair in 2002 and continued his education at Long Beach City College. Gil enjoyed going to the beach, riding his bike, and watching movies, but the true love of his life was music. He was a part of the Mayfair High School marching band and jazz band as a trumpet player before switching over to play bass guitar. He was a very talented guitar player who continued playing throughout his life. Gil was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandfather, Gabriel D. Mendivil, on July 1st, 2016. Gil was devastated by the loss of Grandpa Gabe as they were always very close. He was also preceded in death by his uncles Ray Pedroza and Benny Gonzales, aunt Jill Gutierrez, and cousins Victoria Gutierrez and Jayme Juarez. Gil left behind many family members including his parents, Gilbert and Tisha Gutierrez, sister Angela Jacobsen, brother-in-law Dave Jacobsen, nephew Camden Jacobsen, maternal grandmother Alvie Mendivil, paternal grandparents Gilbert and Teresa Gutierrez, godfather Chano Gutierrez, godmother Carmina Diana, and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and long-time friends. A visitation will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday November 17th at All Souls Mortuary followed by a rosary prayer service at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday November 18th, at All Souls Mortuary. The family of Gilbert Gutierrez wishes to thank anyone who has expressed condolences, shared stories, and shown us love since the news of his untimely passing.
