James "Buddy" Dougherty

Our dearly beloved Buddy, 68, of Long Beach, California, left us here on earth on March 26, 2010. He was born on May 6th, 1941 in Bath, Maine, and resided in Long Beach for the past 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend. The second of 10 children, Buddy served 4 years in the US Navy, owned and operated his own plumbing business for 35 years, was very active in Boy Scout Troop 212, and late in his life took great pleasure in tending his garden. His hearty laugh and wonderful storytelling will be missed by all who had the honor and privilege to know him. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marion; sons, James (Lisa), Matthew (Linda), Andrew (Edel) and Dominic; grandchildren, Jacob, Karli, Luke, Nicholas and Christopher; sisters, Janina, Faith and Gail; brothers, Patrick, Thomas, William, Terrance and John. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen; and brother Daniel.

A viewing will be held from 3 to 6pm on Monday, April 5th at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Road, Long Beach, CA 90808.

Mass will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 6th, 2010, at St. Cornelius Church, 5500 E. Wardlow Road, Long Beach, CA.
