Jeffrey Garrett Shrout

Jeff is best remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and camping at Jalama Beach.

Jeff’s professional life was spent in the service of others as part of the Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit and later in The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years, and also served as a training officer for the department’s Motors Unit. His dedication and determination to be a positive force to others garnered him well-deserved commendations for recognition in the field of duty.

Jeff’s involvement in his parish community would find him working side-by-side with St. Pancratius’ annual festival volunteers as well as helping prepare for the church’s special feast days and celebrations.

He will be missed and his kindness and generosity of spirit will be treasured forever.

Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife Jennifer, his daughters Jessica Lynn, and Rebecca Nicole of Lakewood, CA; his father and mother Delco and Sandra Shrout; his brother Michael Shrout, his wife Maria Shrout, and their sons Andrew, Matthew, and Daniel Shrout, all of Long Beach, CA; his mother-in-law Barbara Messerle Devitt and her husband Dennis Devitt, of Lakewood, CA; and his brother-in-law Paul Messerle and his husband Matthew Kitch, of Vista, CA.

A Vigil/Rosary Service will be held on August 18th at St. Pancratius Catholic Church, 3519 St. Pancratius Place, in Lakewood, CA at 6:30 p.m., with a family gathering before at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at the same location on Tuesday, August 19th at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at All Souls Cemetery, 4400 Cherry Ave. in Long Beach, CA.
