

Joseph Francis Novak was born in Butte, Montana on Saturday October 30, 1915 the first child of Joseph Michael and Mary Veronica Novak. After spending his early years in Butte he married Marguerite Mary Sailer on July 31, 1940 and later joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Air Corps as a navigator of B-24s during WWII. After his active duty service he attended the Montana School of Mines and earned a Bachelors of Science (Mining Engineering). He spent the next two years in Salt Lake City and then took a position with Andes Copper Mining Company in Potrerillos, Chile. In Chile he developed a new mine which became known as El Salvador. Later he worked in Canada, Western Australia and the Philippines. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marge; children Joan (Mark), Jean (Stephen), Steve (Susan) and Mary (Ted); grandchildren Michael, Laura, Stephen, Antony, Paula and Teresa . 14 Great Grand Children. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 AM on Saturday August 20, 2011 followed by a Mass at 10:00 at Holy Family Parish 13900 Church Place, Leisure World, Seal Beach. Joseph will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 22 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to any Veterans Association of your choice.
