Lorraine Fulton

1921 - 2012

Lorraine L. Fulton passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Lorraine was born in Ketchikan, Alaska in 1921. She moved with her family to Long Beach, California at the age of four. In 1945, Lorraine married Robert H. (Harry) Fulton. Lorraine and Harry's love for travel took them all over the world. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in the Long Beach Community as a leader in many civic and philanthropic organizations. Lorraine served as Assistance League president 1968-1969, she also sat on the boards of National Assistance League, Rick Rackers, Community Hospital Foundation and Rancho Los Alamitos. She was also a charter member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and a member of the Ebell Club. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Harry) Fulton; parents, Will H and Gertrude Winston, sister, Willa G. Gilmore and brother, Judge Will H. Winston, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Ann L. (Fred) Gilbert; and son, William J. Fulton of California; and daughter, Janet S. (Ben) Shafsky of Alaska. Lorraine also leaves grandchildren, Sheri Calderon, Fred Gilbert, Jessica and Jillian Shafsky, Jennifer Bohn, Jesse, Shannon and Sean Fulton; great-grandchildren, Karisa, Kasey, Kurtis, Savanna, Brook and Tiffany; plus many nieces and nephews and countless friends. A memorial service for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 1 at Bay Shore Community Church in Long Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Assistance League of Long Beach, California
