

Mary Catherine Gressman, 87, of Seal Beach, California lost her battle with breast cancer at home on Monday, June 14th, 2010. Mary was born on June 11th, 1923 in Buffalo, New York the oldest daughter of Gertrude and Fancis Xavier Kertz. Mary was a 50 year resident of the Long Beach and Seal Beach area. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Leisure World and had previously been active at Saint Cornelius Parish in Long Beach. Mary taught CCD for many years at St. Cornelius and was also active with her children in both the Cub Scout and Girl Scout programs. She was also very active in a number of groups at Leisure World, where she and her husband, Ernest lived for just over 20 years.
Mary was preceded in death by Ernie her husband of 57 years, her brother Frank Jr., along with her son-in-law, James Haff and her grandson Mark Gressman. She is survived by two sisters; Gloria Lavin and Patricia Reddy both of Buffalo, New York, her daughter Anne of Los Alamitos, son David of Moorpark, CA, and his wife Janis; along with her grandchildren John Haff of Los Alamitos and Jackie Funk of Issaquah, Washington and her husband Troy. She will also be missed by many friends across the country.
Mary and Ernie were the loves of each other’s lives. Mary’s tombstone will read “In Love Forever”.
Ernie was a World War II veteran and Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Services for Mary will be held on Monday, June 21st at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Leisure World/Seal Beach, CA.
