peacefully in her home of 50 years in Los Alamitos, California on November 28, 2012, after a valiant
battle with cancer. “Pat” was raised in the Great Depression by her proud working class parents who
taught her to be frugal, empathetic and independent which she continued throughout her life. In 1947
at age 18, she moved to Los Angeles in search of adventure, making many fun loving and exciting friends
including her husband to be, Herb Kampmann and his best friend Russ Plato, both engineers in the
fledgling aerospace industry.
Pat and Herb were both only children and always wanted a big family and soon had six energetic,
rambunctious children, notoriously known as the “Kampmann Gang.” As mother Pat was an animal
lover, though had no pets as a child, she allowed her kids to bring home any species of animal that could
be rounded up to add to the family menagerie which filled the house and yard. She loved her family and
friends selflessly and unconditionally, and her love of nature, camping and travel took her family to
national parks and cultural attractions all over the country.
Pat was a voracious reader and enjoyed writing, playing scrabble, music and theater, tending to her
roses and fruit trees of every variety, rooting for her hometown Green Bay Packers and could always be
found with a cup of tea and chocolate close at hand. Even in her later years, Pat was full of life and
energy, remaining actively involved in her weekly writing class, Scrabble playing group, travel and other
interests.
She was an inspiring and religious woman who embraced all faiths, dedicated to helping others through
her volunteer efforts at hospitals, Red Cross and Guide Dogs of America, as well as a prolific fundraiser
for the Revlon Run/Walk for Women with Cancer for 18 years. For decades she has sponsored
disadvantaged foster children all around the world. She was a kind, gentle and loving soul always willing
to help those in need.
Late in life Pat was reunited with her birth mother and four siblings that she never knew she had, who
lovingly welcomed her into their lives which was a great comfort to her for many years.
Patricia was preceded in death by parents Bruno & Rose Wozniak, birth mother Loretta Holzman and
husband of 54 years, Herbert Evans Kampmann. She is survived by her six children, Shawn Evans
(Laurie) Kampmann, Steven Vincent Kampmann, Karen Jean Kampmann, Paul Anthony Kampmann, Chris
Patrick (Yvonne) Kampmann and Kathy Marie (Gary) Stern, grandchildren Heather, Rachael, Danielle,
Nicole, Austin and great granddaughter Sydney, her siblings Mel Gullickson, Richard Gullickson, Katie
Indermuehle & Joani Hamielec, beloved canine kids Rushi & Neva, as well as Pat’s many newer and
lifelong friends.
She was a brave, strong and inspirational woman, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be
long remembered and missed by all whose life she touched and without a doubt, left this world a better
place. We all have been influenced by her integrity, respectfulness, moral compass, humility and values.
May you rest in peace and God bless.
