Ricky Ray Matson

Ricky was born on February 15, 1964 at St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach, California. He was the son of Levon and Dorothy Matson. He was raised in Lakewood and grew up on Graywood Avenue. He attended Betsy Ross Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High, and Mayfair High, where he graduated in 1982.

Rick was a technological wizard, and it was widely known that he could solve most any computer problem or fix any type of electronic gadget. Fortunately, he found a career path where he could use his natural intellect and problem-solving abilities. His primary occupation was an IT consultant. He worked for several different companies during his career, most recently for Ignify, Inc. in Long Beach. Rick was respected for his creativity, innovation, and ability to solve complex problems.

Those who knew Rick will remember his playfulness, his good heart, and his penchant for expressing his opinion. He loved a good debate. His gentle nature, however, always came through in his love for his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Rick is survived by his wife, Kris; his children Jeff, Jessica, and Jenna; and his father Levon. He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy. He is also survived by his brother Ron, sisters Linda and Kellie, several nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Memorial service held at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary. Burial at sea.
