

Robert "Bob" Mallon was born on July 3, 1951, and passed away on November 18, 2015. Bob was born in Long Beach the son of Hal and Grace Mallon and grew up in Lakewood. He attended St. Pancratius Elementary School and graduated in 1969 from Lakewood High School, where he met his future wife and best friend, Sheri. After graduation, Bob entered the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy to become a Corrections Officer and he and Sheri married and welcomed their first child, Robert Jr. In 1972, Bob and Sheri welcomed their second child, Amy, and Bob re-entered the academy to become a Deputy Sheriff, graduating in 1973. Bob built a career as a Deputy Sheriff for 35 years in which he made many life-long friends, many of which he considered family. During this time, Bob welcomed six grandchildren and loved being Bapa to each of them. Bob and Sheri retired in 2005 and moved to Big Bear Lake. Bob enjoyed his retirement by traveling, attending football games and NASCAR races, and visits with his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, John Ziemkiewicz, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheri; his son Robert Mallon Jr.; his daughter Amy and her husband Jeff Marsh; his six grandchildren, Andrew Mallon, Joshua Mallon, Jacob Marsh, Jared Marsh, Jenna Marsh, and Noah Mallon; his brother Steve and his wife Emmy Mallon; his sister Kathy and her husband Jack Ziemkiewicz; Sheri’s sister Marianne and her husband Victor Lenta; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob’s love of life, family, and friends was undeniable, as well as his sense of humor. He had a way of making new acquaintances feel like long-time friends.
