

Robert was born September 15, 1928 in Carlsbad, California as the third son of Silas Burl “Billy” & Dorothy Farquhar. After graduation from Oceanside High School in 1948, Robert enlisted in the Air Force where he installed air tower navigation and radio equipment in Hawaii, Japan, and Korea. In 1952, he returned to Carlsbad and began working for Western Union as a communication technician. The job had him living and traveling across the western US, until he retired 27 years later. Robert shared his love of travel, helping others, woodworking, flying, and sailing throughout the many days of his life. In January 2011, the family honored his life of service with a plaque located atop of Mt Soledad in La Jolla, California. The plaque is located on B wall next to his brother Richard’s. Robert passed peacefully at his niece Mary Jones’s home in Lakewood, CA on December 31, 2011. Robert is survived by his brothers’ Richard and Barron Farquhar families, cousin Marjorie Kissner, and a many life-long friends. You are invited to join the families in a Celebration of Life memorial on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10AM at the Eternal Hills Memorial Park Chapel in Oceanside, California.
