Robert T. Hurd

February 20, 1927 – March 5, 2012

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away on March 5, 2012. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Emilie, and is survived by his son Robert & (wife) Glenda Hurd, daughter Sandy & (husband) Joe Sova. Robert was blessed with 8 Grandchildren Celeste (deceased), Glen (deceased), Craig & (wife) Heather, Rusty & (wife) Lindsie, Karen (deceased), Robert (deceased), Emilie & (husband) Karl Victor, Dustin & (girlfriend) Carol. And 3 Great Granddaughters Madison, Harley and Olivia. Robert was born in Carlin, Nevada to Clarence and Rose Hurd. Robert was preceded in death by his twin brother Richard, and is survived by his brother Bill and sisters Vivian and Shirley. When Robert was in High School he won the Nevada State Free Throw Competition. While growing up, he worked on his Father’s mine and mill. Robert moved to Los Angeles, California when he was 18 to attend college. He worked in Restaurant Management for 40 years at Hody’s, Alphy’s, and Sam’s Seafood. Robert retired in 1988 and enjoyed leisure time with his wife traveling, bicycling, bowling, camping and fishing. Robert taught his children and grandchildren to fish and golf, and enjoyed taking them camping. Robert’s Love for his family and life will be remembered and cherished.

A visitation will be held at Luyben Family Mortuary in Long Beach, CA on Sunday March 11th, from 1pm-3pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Cornelius Catholic Church at 10am on Monday March 12th. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, CA immediately following the services.
