Robert (Bob) Pugh, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed peacefully on July 16. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Ellsworth and Venetia Margaret Clutter Pugh, siblings Donald, Verna Lee, James and wife, Lola Christine Whitton Pugh, the love of his life. Born in Pueblo, CO, Bob moved to Long Beach in 1937, attended Long Beach Polytechnic High, LB City College and received U.S. Coast Guard Academy officer training before serving in Honolulu from 1942 to 1946. Forty years at Proctor & Gamble brought him much pride and joy. Always active, he enjoyed family vacations, gardening, fishing, sports, music and learning about others. He happily volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Little League and the P&G Alumni Association. His endless humor, generosity, compassion and love of life were ever-present. While these activities and values were important, family and friends were central: Chris, his wife of 69 years and best friend; loving children Gary (Martha), Janis Jacobs (Rick) and Scott (Irene); adored grandchildren, Mary Ellen & Robert Pugh, Zachary & Joshua Jacobs, Sydney & Scotty Pugh; sister-in-law, Carol Whitton Woods, nephew, Don Woods (Maya), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his multitude of fabulous friends. He will be deeply missed. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 30, at the Los Altos United Methodist Church, 5950 East Willow Street, Long Beach, CA 90815. Reception following. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory. The family extends sincere appreciation to all who loved Bob!
