

Someth Seang, a long-time resident of Bellflower, CA, died on the 3rd of October 2020 at the age of 80. A loving spouse to his wife; Chhun Lai Math, a devoted father to his children, Ramy, Ravuth, Ravy, Rano; and a caring grandfather to Reyna, Rey Matthew and Russell.
He was born on July 18, 1940 in the city of Kohthom, Province of Kandal, Kingdom of Cambodia from a mix of Chinese and Cambodian descent. As an accomplished student, he studied multiple languages and majored in Chemistry at Phnom Penh University. He later volunteered for the Cambodian Air Force where he attained the rank of Lieutenant and served as a flight instructor. While in the military, he met his wife and married in Battambang, Cambodia in 1971.
Someth and family lived under the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975-1979. He and many Cambodians endured forced labor and starvation. Because of his military experiences, he bravely helped his family escaped the genocide of Cambodians under the Khmer Rouge. In 1979, they found refuge in Thailand and then later in the Philippine. He spent 3 years in the refugee camp, where he served as an interpreter to provide for his family.
In 1982, Someth and the family arrived in the US and settled in Los Angeles, CA. He and his wife worked hard in the garment industry, ultimately saving enough money to start a donut shop. In 1987, Jack’s Donut was born in Lynwood, CA. Someth took on the nickname, “Jack” himself.
Over the years, customers became friends, coming to the shop not only for donuts but also for conversations that always spanned many topics, including sports, politics, and current events. He found happiness in seeing his family grow and being able to cherish his time with his grandchildren.
