

Timothy “Tim” Francis O’Neill was born on March 2, 1959, in Queens, New York. After an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed away on April 2, 2015, in Lakewood, California. He was at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Tim was preceded in death by his father Robert O’Neill, Sr., mother Eileen O’Neill, brother John “Jack” O’Neill, brother Robert “Bobby” O’Neill, Jr., and sister-in-law Sue O’Neill. He is survived by his sister Maureen Morabito, wife Karen O’Neill, daughter Kelly O’Neill, son Sean O’Neill, and grandson Colin Schrier. Tim attended St. Andrews Avellino School in Flushing, New York, through eighth grade, then Archbishop Molloy High School in Jamaica, New York. He was an accomplished basketball player at Molloy. He graduated in 1977. Tim was a loving uncle to his sister Maureen’s three children Anthony, Timothy, and Erin. In 1979 Tim moved to Long Beach, California, to join his brother Jack. Jack was an estimator in the asphalt paving industry. Soon after his brother Bobby joined them. Bobby was a foreman in the asphalt paving industry. Meanwhile Tim was working for Orkin Pest Control Company, eventually becoming a manager. In 1983 the rest of the family moved out to start up a family asphalt paving business, which would become Shamrock Paving, Inc. Jack trained Tim to be an estimator. Eventually Tim became president of the company. Also in 1983 he met Karen Demchak. They fell in love and were married in June 1984. In 1988 their daughter Kelly was born, and in 1991 their son Sean was born. Tim was a loving husband and father and his wife and children adored him. Tim always enjoyed playing a variety of sports. In addition to basketball, he became an avid bike rider. He participated in an annual bike ride from Irvine to San Diego many times. Once he discovered golfing, he discovered his true passion. When he wasn’t working, eating, or sleeping, he was golfing. In 2012 he achieved a hole in one at Lakewood Country Club! In 2009 Kelly’s son Colin was born, and Tim become a doting grandpa. Tim was loved dearly by his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
