My dear Valerie 

I'm just now hearing about your passing, and it's five years after your home going...You were such a lovely friend , I remember our English class together with Mr Decoudres we had a blast in that class...I will miss your kindness and your infectious laughter..may you rest in peace my friend until we meet again in heaven...you knew me as Lisa Hitching back in the day...

I was Valeries walking partner and close friend in high school. I will always remember the fun times we all had with her.I will never forget her and her wonderfull family.

I know my message is late but I felt I needed to write something wonderful about Val. I knew Val since I was a kid and her and Sal would come into my moms salon. I've never met such and awesome couple Val could light up any room she walked into. Later in life by chance I got to work with Val, any day she walked in the office she made it a more enjoyable place to be. Sal I am very sorry for your loss. You and Valerie have a love most of us can only imagine. It was an honor having known Valerie.

Valerie, I grew up with you in Long Beach as a very young girl - we both had a love for horses and I felt like you were my big sister.  You were also close to my parents and often had more in common with my mom than I did.  I am not sure what happened in your life but I thought of you often and the idea that maybe one day we'd meet up.  I am so sorry about your passing, the day to get together never came.  My prayers go out to your husband Sal and your brother Mark whom I remember from our many sleepovers at your house and your little weiner dog, fond memories.    Rest in Peace dear one.

I was and still am very saddened to learn about the passing of what I'd consider a very good friend in Valerie Fernandez. I met Val in the early 90's when she was working for Vallen Safety out at which was then the Mobil Refinery in Torrance. She was always full of energy, always had a smile on her face and was always very positive! As a young man at that time I was going through some difficult times with relationships as well as life's normal struggles. She would talk to me for hours always with positive reinforcements, never give up hope on myself and that with true, honest hard work, good things would come my way! Valerie was truly a mentor for me as I'm sure she was for a lot of other people as well. That's just the kind, loving and sincere person she was.  
I am truly privileged and honored to have known Val and she will be dearly missed. 
My deepest love and prayers go out to Sal and all who had the privilege of knowing Valerie.

valerie you will truly be missed, my sister jana and i went to jordan high school and you were a sweet loving and very giving person. you will always be remembered. our condolences to sal and the family.

Val was a wonderfully warm and vivacious woman that would light up any room she entered while making those around her feel special.  Val will be missed tremendously!

Through our childhood and teen years at Hoover and Jordan, I knew Valerie. And, recently upon my return to Lakewood, I would run into her while shopping at Ralph's.  Her vibrant, beautiful being taken too soon.  She will be remembered by her vivacious personality, smile and laughter.  My condolences to her family.  May you find strength in her loving memory during this difficult time.

Fun, loving, caring, giving.Not enogh words to describe you. I will never forget our dune buggy ride. You would scream, then laugh, sceam, laugh. So much fun.   We truly have lost someone very special. Thanks for the memories. Rest in peace our friend.

Val, we are going to miss you so much! Loved your outspoken, loud, funny personality. It all ended way too soon. You will be missed, but you are now at peace.

I will never forget all of the laughs that I had with my sweet friend Valerie.  Everyone knew when we entered a room either by our loud mouths or all the perfume. We were even named Truck and Trailer.  I love you so much Val....my heart is broken to hear that you have left us to be with our Father.  May you watch over us and guide us.  Until we meet again.....I love you!  I miss you already but please know that you will live in my heart forever!  Sal, I pray that God brings strength and peace in your heart.  I know how much you two loved eachother and will continue loving each other.  We are here for you Sal!  We love you so much!  May you rest in Peace Valerie Ann! My funniest cousin Val,
So many funny and crazy memories with you when we were younger.  You always had a special way with everyone.  Everybody loved your personality.  From going to high school with you to all our families special events.  We will never forget you and your ways.  Sal was so blessed, to have you in his life.  No worries, we will all take care of Sal.  He's our family too.  I guess, God needed you for something special in heaven.  Sure wish, he didn't!  We will miss you, but know your with your maker!

So sorry to learn of Valerie's passing. I remember her well from school. She will be greatly missed.

I knew Valerie as a horse crazy teenager.  She was so special!!!!!

Val...You were larger than life! I could always tell whenever you came into the store,Ralphs, The Cottage, the nail studio, or Easter services at Parkcrest..the air changed...somehow I knew you were there. I could be having a bad day, and somehow, someway, you sensed it and you knew what to say to cheer me up....I loved seeing you and running into you somewhere in town. I loved driving by your house, for with every season/holiday, you had the outside done up....I know that the next time I visit CA...it wont be the same. 

Sal, whenever I would run into Val, she always talked about you and how much she loved you and her family......how proud she was of you. Val touched many lives and with her, just talking to her, it somehow becomes a party....I pray for strength for you and the family...I know that we will see her again...

I knew Valerie at Lindbergh Junior High and David Starr Jordan High. she was always nice to me. Always had such a wonderful laugh...I even knew her brother Mark, I worked for him at Arnold's Family Restaurant. Even her parents were wonderful people. One night after my shift my car wouldn't start they (her mother and father) gave me a ride home. Very nice family...I always thought of Valerie and her family. Valerie you will be missed. But you will be forever in my mind and my heart since I first met you in 7th(seventh) grade. To your family I am very sorry for your loss, she was a wonderful person and friend. Thank you.

Sorry for your loss my prayers are with you and your family. Worked with Val a few years back at Safety West. You always new when Val was in the house. She was a very kind person and sure loved her husband and doggies bragged about them all the time. Again may you seek comfort and peace in Jesus name.

For 27 years it has been Sal and Val.  This week, I had the honor of looking at pictures of their life together. What a life! It was filled with fun in the sun and a great love for each other. Life already seems a little less bright, though the sun is shining. I will miss Val and cannot imagine her not walking through my front door asking me a million questions. To my brother Sal, you have four sisters who promise to always be there for you and who love you with all our hearts.  God bless you. Love, Patty
