Born in Delhi, India, Ashwani immigrated to Montréal with his family in 1972, settling in Ville Saint-Laurent. He went on to attend McGill University, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance in 1981. He later made his home in the peaceful suburb of Brossard, where he resided for more than 45 years.
A devoted husband, an incredibly loving father, and a generous friend, Ashwani will be remembered for his kindred spirit, selflessness, warm heart, and wonderful sense of humour. He had an enormous capacity to give of himself. Firm in his principles yet unwavering in his support of others, he offered encouragement, comfort, and wisdom freely. Above all, he gave those closest to him the greatest gift of all: unconditional love.
He is dearly missed by his wife Mita; children Sunita (Manu), Suneil; siblings Shailja (Rajiv), Punit (Sumita); nieces and nephews Leena, Anamika, Karishma, Akshay; and numerous relatives and friends.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne for the extraordinary care and compassion they provided during his final days.
Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at La Maison Darche Services funéraires, 505 Boulevard Curé-Poirier Ouest, Longueuil, QC J4J 2H5, followed by a private cremation service.
For those wishing to join virtually, a link to the service will be provided below.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ashwani’s memory to the Fondation Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne, in support of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Your laughter, kindness, and loving spirit will never be forgotten.
Om Brahm Satyam Sarvadhar.
