Arthur D. Benefield

Arthur Dee “Art” Benefield, 77, of Union Grove, passed away on November 1, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Benefield was born on June 14, 1935 in Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama to Colbert Belton and Bertha Lee McCormick Benefield.

Art married Margaret Rose Massengil on September 18, 1955, she preceded him in death on August 15, 1992. He then married Donna Jean Fiorilla on January 22, 1995 in Gladewater. Art owned and operated Art’s Paint and Body Shop in Longview, and how he loved working on and fixing cars, trucks and motorcycles. He also liked to build furniture, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Union Grove; Daughters: Margaret Michelle Sirkel and her husband David of Union Grove, Susan Archer and her husband Robert of Wyoming; Son: Roger Benefield of Denton County, TX; Grandchildren: Jamie, James, Brandy, Angela, Shirley, Samantha, Art III, Gina, Colbert, Savannah, Kasie, and Roger, Jr.; and a number of great grandchildren; Sisters: Letha Hart of Longview, Jean Roberts and her husband Billy of Clifton, TX; Stepchildren: Michael McKeever of Corinth, TX, Dawn Beaver and her husband Johnny of Denton, TX, Kimberly Garza and her husband David of Dallas, TX, William Macia and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma; thirteen step grandchildren, and a number of step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and children: Richard and Arthur, Jr.

Sevices will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 5, 2012 at the chapel of the Lakeview Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Bro. Richard Dool officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
