Bobby was born on July 10, 1937 in Three Rivers, Texas to Otto and Jessie Schattel. He graduated from Sabine High School in 1955. Bobby went on to play football at East Texas State University. He was employed at Eastman Kodak for 33 years before retiring from operations. During his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and catching up with old friends.
Bobby will be remembered for his confident and reassuring smile. He loved seeing and spending time with his family, and made this delight obvious to all. Two Paws, as his grandchildren knew him, gave good, strong hugs that were often followed by the gift of a soft peppermint which later graduated to a gift of cash. Bobby was one to arrive early, and he was sure to never overstay a welcome.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters and their spouses, Dan & Jan Ashcroft, Roy & Jena Peck, and Joe & Julie Duhon; his siblings, Butch Schattel and Pam Butler as well as her husband Robert; his grandchildren: Shannon White, Jennifer Bray, Jerrod McClung, Reagan Lasseter, Eldri Johansen, Morgan Holstead, and Christian Johansen. Bobby also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thank you could never be enough to demonstrate our appreciation to Equallia, the workers at Arabella, and the hospice nurses at Heart to Heart for the way they genuinely loved, served, and cared for Bobby during his illness
