Charla Blount Ruth was born on December 21, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles Bradford Blount and Ethel Marie Horn Blount. She passed peacefully on February 7, 2026.
Charla spent her early school years in San Antonio and later graduated from high school in Sherman, Texas. She went on to earn her degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, a milestone she was very proud of.
She dedicated her professional life to public service, working for the Gregg County Extension Office, where she later retired after many years of service.
Charla had a deep love for nature. She found joy tending to her yard and flowerbeds, creating beautiful flower arrangements, and spending time outdoors. She could name nearly any plant or bird you pointed out and had a special fondness for butterflies and hummingbirds. Her beloved pets were constant companions and a great source of happiness in her life.
Above all, Charla loved her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, sister, brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews, and held her family close in both heart and spirit. She was also a devoted friend and a faithful member of her church family at Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
She was a passionate sports fan, proudly cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Charla is survived by her children, Amy Ruth Rainoshek and Alan Ruth and fiancée Kenna McCabe; her grandchildren, JT Cooley, Colton Rainoshek (Abbie), Morgan Ruth Newcombe (Jameson), Taylor Ruth, and Kaley Ruth; her sister, Ann Belzung (Dan); and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family has chosen to hold a private funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held in April, with details to be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Charla requested that memorial donations be made to her favorite charities:
Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue (www.saverockythegreatdane.org)
and Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
