

David E. Thomas, 85, of Longview entered into his Heavenly body on October 17, 2016 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born into his earthly body on May 3, 1931 in Queen City, Texas to his parents, Tom Ellison Thomas and Ruby Lee Foster Thomas. David graduated high school and served in the Marine Corps. He married Linda Lee Krocak Stans June 22, 1984 in Longview, TX. He worked as an electrician at Ideal Cement in Houston until his retirement and moved to Longview and worked for the City of Longview in the Water Treatment Department until he retired in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He loved being a grandparent. Whether it was watching a soccer game or just going to visit while they were off at school, he loved being a part of their life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Thomas of Longview; son: Johnny Thomas and wife Sandra of Alvin, TX; daughters: Kathy Bundick and husband Charlie of Deer Park, TX, Cindy Jevas and husband Mike of Houston, TX, Kristy Johnson and husband Jim of Salt Lake City, UT; step daughters: Andrea Steele and husband Chris of Hawley, MN, Melissa Barbee of Forney, TX, Christina Griffin and husband Jimmy of Alexandria, VA; previous wife: Patsy Wilcox and husband Joe Keith Wallace of Point Blank, TX; thirteen grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers: Tommy Lee Thomas and Paul (Jiggs) Thomas and his wife Barbara of Baytown, TX; brother-in-law: Jerry (Butch) Krocak and wife Kathy of LeCenter, MN; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2016 at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX with a time of visitation with his family to follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 10138 Union Grove Road, Gladewater, TX, with a time to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Flowers are permitted or memorials may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, or Heart's Way Hospice, 4351 McCann Road, Longview, TX 75605.
