Donald Wilks

Donald Wilks was born September 27, 1929 in Vienna, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, to Paul and Lurline Skinner Wilks. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Nell Wilks of Gladewater, Texas, one daughter Laura Karnes, son-in-law James Karnes, two granddaughters Kimberly Diane Karnes and Kelly Suzanne Karnes, all of Kingsport, Tennessee; two brothers, Bobby Wilks and wife Ellen of Henderson, Texas; Gerald Wilks of Alice, Texas; one sister Sandra and husband Joe McGill of Seminole, Texas, three nephews and four nieces, several cousins, one aunt and uncle.

A 1949 graduate of Gladewater High School, he lived most of his life in Gladewater. He served in Korea during the Korean War, worked in the East Texas oilfield, at Lone Star Steel Company; and for approximately 25 years, he worked at Texas Eastman in Longview. He died Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Longview, Texas.

Services will be Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 prior to the service. Rev. Welton Jones will be officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Roe, Steven Wilks, Kelley McGill, David Wilcoxen, Kenneth Pace, Onie Holt and John Black.
