Joyce Stroud

She was born to Stephen & Elmira Thibodeaux and raised in "Little Beaumont" Longview, Texas. She graduated from Longview High and Stephen F. Austin. She married Alma Lynn Stroud in 1956 and the couple had 3 children. She became a Speech Therapist at Pine Tree Primary School, where she worked for over 23 years. She was even awarded Teacher of the Year in 1992!

In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed getting together with her family and her grandkids, fishing with Lynn, gardening, cooking, listening to Country Music, and involvement in her church teaching Sunday School. Joyce was very talented in many things. She wrote beautiful poems. Whatever the occasion, she was asked to write a poem and conquered each time. Her husband and children made her laugh and her proudest accomplishment was teaching. Her family and friends will always remember her as a fun loving, caring and generous person. Joyce loved get togethers with family. Sometimes when family came to stay overnight she would put numbers on the bedroom doors as you would see on hotel doors!

Joyce is survived by her husband, children, 10 grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include: William McBride, Traylin McBride, Blaine Hart, Brandon Hart, Zach Stroud, Anthony Stroud.

A visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home, located at 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604, on November 21, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same location on November 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm, followed by a committal service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens at the same location. A catered reception will follow the services at the funeral home.
