JW Simmons

JW Simmons, 80, of Gladewater, passed away May 22, 2019 at his residence in Gladewater. JW was born January 2, 1939 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. JW was raised by his mother, Myrtle Simmons and step father, Lewis Clayton. He graduated from high school and soon after joined the US Marines Corp to serve his country. After returning home, he married Shirley Ann Gentry. He was a man that loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and working outside.

He is survived by his daughters, Diana Gamel and her husband John of Gladewater, Stacy Case and her husband Joe of Gladewater; son Sean Simmons and his wife Lisa of Gladewater; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews & great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one daughter.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX.
