

Mr. Moon graduated high school and went on to serve his country during WWII. During his service, he was a medic in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Admiral William S. Sims that tested the atomic bomb in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. He is known to have actually pushed the button to detonate the bomb. Mr. Moon loved his country and also travelling. He has traveled to every continent in the world. Mr. Moon was a deliberate and hardworking man, with a spirit of humor that was never ending. He was the 26th employee to get on at Eastman Kodak Company and worked there until his retirement in 1981. He received salvation in the 1950’s and attended Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church as an adult. He loved camping, fishing, and to cook.
Mr. Moon is survived by his wife Carrie Bell of Longview; son: Steve Clifton Moon of Lakeport, CA; daughters: Jan Moon Gibbs and her husband Lynn of Austin, Earlene Moon of Longview, and Arlene Moon Wilson and her husband Mark of Hallsville; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sons: Kenneth Nelson Moon and Cecil Jackson Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the First Assembly of God Church, 110 US Hwy 80 East, Gladewater, TX on Monday, May 12, 2014 with Brother Terrell Pearson (Bro. Laney) and Linda Mott officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX.
