Linda passed away on December 26, 2024. She was born May 22, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jack Calvin Cannon and Elizabeth Anderson Cannon. Her Mother Elizabeth passed away when Linda was a young girl of 8 years old. Her Father married Verna Perkins who soon became “Mom” to Linda. Linda always cherished her Mother Elizabeth while loving her Mom Verna.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister Mary Jacqueline Canaan (fondly known as Sister) of Warrensburg, Missouri; her brother Randy Cannon of Overton and sister Pam Fordtran and husband Bill of Corpus Christi.
When Linda was a teenager, the family moved from Kansas City to Longview where Linda graduated from Longview High School. After graduation she returned to the Kansas City area. Her first job was at Putsch’s Cafeteria in Kansas City. Linda was a shining example of a strong work ethic she learned from her Mom and Dad, a work ethic for which she was known for the rest of her life. Linda returned to Longview and began working at Good Shepherd Medical Center in the Housekeeping and Laundry Department where she worked for over 42 years until her retirement in 2016.
After retirement, with the encouragement and support of her good friend Judy Arroyo and the loving members of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, Linda found her place volunteering at the church. She especially loved the music department and was proud to be a member of the church choir.
Linda’s love of Christ was on display every day. She lived her Faith and we are all better for having loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held a Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Longview, Texas on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Linda’s name be made to Woodland Hills Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
