Merry Charlene Smith passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Parks Methodist Nursing Home. She was born August, 1, 1922 to Bill and Minnie Christmas in Ranger, Texas. She married Joel Humphrey Smith, Jr. in 1953 and moved to Odessa in 1960. She worked many years in the dental office of Dr. Jim Clark. Charlene was a long time member of Parkview and then Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Smith as well as her parents and a sister, Billie Moore. Charlene is survived by her only child, Anita Absher and husband Robert of Odessa, her two cherished grandsons Clint Absher and wife Jody of Dallas, Texas; and Blake Absher and wife Christine of Austin, Texas. Charlene is also survived by her brother, Raymond Garland Christmas and wife Bula of Marshall, Texas and one sister Joyce Creamer of Wilcox, Arizona as well as many cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be on Monday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. in Longview, Texas at Lakeview Funeral Home with family visitation there on Easter Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
She truly lived a life of love, laughter and left a legacy of faith!
