He was born on December 27, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA to Richard A. Connolly, Sr. and Estelle J. Connolly. He was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and then joined the US Army. He served as an E8 MSG+ from 1960-1982, serving 2 tours in Vietnam. Richard married Connie Mae Purcell in 1970 and the couple had 2 children. He retired as a veteran after 23 years of service. After the Army, Richard became a Postal Carrier from 1984-2000.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed spending time with family and friends, home projects, and helping others. His friends and family will always remember him as compassionate, helping everyone, giving, and a "Master of Dadisms."
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
He is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Jeannine, son Jude, grandson Rowan, and by his loving, extended family.
The service will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Hallsville, TX on Monday, September 29th at 4pm. The address is 415 S. Cypress St., Hallsville, TX 75650.
