

Robert Harold Elkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on December 29, 1932, in Denison, Texas, to Delma M. O'Dell and John Robert Elkins, Robert was a proud Denison native who carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life.
After graduating from Denison High School, Robert pursued his passion for technology, earning a degree in Computer Science from Kilgore College. His dedication to service was evident during his fourteen years in the Army National Guard, where he exemplified commitment and duty.
In 1953, Robert married the love of his life, Marye Kathryn Fritts. Together, they raised four wonderful children, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Robert's family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them, viewing them as blessings from God.
For 30 years, Robert worked as a Microwave Repeater Communication Technician for AT&T, where he was known for his expertise and dedication. Beyond his professional life, he had a passion for capturing memories, often videotaping family gatherings, church services, weddings, and sporting events. His love for recording these moments reflected his deep appreciation for the joy and connection they brought.
An adventurous spirit, Robert built and flew several ultralight aircraft, embracing the thrill of flight and the beauty of the skies. He also owned and operated Elkins Industrial Electronics, where he shared his knowledge and passion for technology with others. In his leisure time, he enjoyed metal detecting, often embarking on treasure hunts that brought him joy and excitement.
Robert's legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion. He will be remembered as a loving Christian father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose kindness and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew him. His unwavering faith and commitment to his family will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Marye Kathryn Elkins; two brothers and four sisters; daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Elkins; granddaughter, Shelly M. Reese; great-granddaughter, Avionna E. Sullenger; and great-grandson, Stash R. Sullenger.
Mr. Elkins is survived by his children, Robert G. Elkins, Glenda K. Reese, Laura and Charlie Stracener, John H. and Charlotte Elkins; grandchildren, Dustin L. Courtney, Kelly L. Sullenger, Tracy R. White/Sullenger, Kaley R. Sullenger, Tiffany Elkins, Matthew Elkins, Marsha Pence, Katrina White, Pamela Hess, Johnathon Elkins, Ashley Elkins, and Sammy Catron; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Sullenger, Katy Sullenger, Austin White, Brandon Black Jr., Ava Black, Laney Elkins, Logan Evans, Caleb Brannon Elkins, and Nobellee Humphrey.
A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview, TX 75604.
