

Ronald Edwin Laffitte began his life journey on January 14, 1945 and went home to the Lord on May 29, 2015. He grew up in Carmel, Louisiana on a farm surrounded by his family. He joined the Navy in 1965 and served our country faithfully until 1969. He married the love of his life, Dianne Schaff on September 19, 1969. After his marriage, Ronald lived in Bossier City where he was graced by God with his first angel, Erin. He moved to Longview, where he was blessed with his second angel, Jill in April 1976 moved to Longview.
He worked for Southwest Steel for over 30 years. He was a devoted Catholic who attended all three churches in Longview over the years. He loved spending time were spending time making wood works in his shop, collecting John Deere memorabilia, and camping with friends and family, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ada Laffitte; his sisters, Faye Teekell and Frances Flores; and his brother, Bernard Laffitte.
Holding him close to their hearts in this life are his wife of 44 years, Dianne Laffitte; daughter Erin and husband, Daniel Bregin; daughter Jill Laffitte; granddaughter, Abby Tyler; grandson, Adam Bregin; Brother, Jean Laffitte; sister, Betty Lange; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Lakeview Funeral Home will have visitation on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Monsignor Xavier Pappu will recite the Rosary at 6 pm. The funeral service will be at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church on Pine Tree Road at 10 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 with Monsignors Xavier Pappu and John Flynn officiating.
