Arminda Oliva Hernandez was born on October 13th 1956 in Miguel Auza, Zacatecas to Maria Luciana Gonzales and Leopoldo Hernandez. She immigrated to Los Angeles from Reynosa, Tamaulipas in the spring of 1978. She settled in Hollywood with her brother Joel Hernandez.
A few days after arriving she found her 1st job at Consumers Drug Store. While working there she met Alvaro Serna (2/14/48-4/19/21). He would later become her husband and father to her three children, Alejandro, Aleen and Roxana.
Arminda went to Cosmetology school in West Hollywood CA where she completed her coursework and started working in Beverly Hills under the tutelage of Gene Shacove. After many years of hard work and saving she opened her own salon, Mindy Hair Studio in Hollywood (1992-1998). She was a master of her craft.
Mindy, as she was known to most was a true giver. Her home was a landing pad for family and her salon a refuge to many. She always provided a listening ear, a helping hand, and a loving heart.
Mindy spent the last act of her life as a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many. We will miss her generosity of spirit her beautiful smile and warm embrace.
