

Larry Lee Ruark was born March 6, 1945, in Portsmouth, Ohio to William Ruark and Ida Ogdan Ruark. Larry’s life was deeply influenced by the loss of his mother to cancer when he was only six years old. He attended public schools and upon graduation, Larry left Ohio to explore and discover the world. He spent a short time working in Georgia and Florida. He hitch hiked his way to California where he settled in El Monte, California. In El Monte, he established a lifetime of friendships with Fred Phillips and Esta Gay(Rusty). Larry worked with plastics and fiberglass formulation before settling with the printing industry where he became a very proficient stripper for twenty-five years. He specialized in working with famous artists, including Red Skelton, to reproduce copies of their work. Larry decided to retire early from printing with the technological changes in the printing industry brought on by the computer.
After receiving a modest inheritance, he started a part-time career in real estate investments owning property in Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and Corpus Christii, Texas He designed his retirement dream home after purchasing an ocean view lot on the Big Island of Hawaii. He enjoyed owning and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes that permitted him to explore the vast Southern California desert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger sister, Kathleen Mullins, his older brother, William Ruark Jr and his dear friend, Fred Phillips. Larry is survived by his two nephews Bill Mullins and Barry Mullins of Ohio . Larry leaves behind his long time friend, Esata Gay from Deming New Mexico, and his old dirt bike riding buddy and fellow real estate investor, David Brees from Westminster, California. In addition, Larry leaves behind his memories of his pet dogs, Ring Eye and Angus Mac Duff.
Entombment services will be held on January 16, 2025t, at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California. As he approached old age, Larry drew great comfort knowing that he would spend eternity in a unique cemetery of the stars that had provided so much entertainment for him during his life , including Marilyn Monroe, Burt Lancaster, Farrah Fawcett, Dean Martin, and Ryan O’Neal. Larry’s adventure in life has come to an end as he is resting in peace in the midst of the serenity and beauty of his new condominium in the Westwood Village Memorial Park.
