Ruth Herman, (96) passed on Saturday, Nov. 4th, 2017 at 11:22 PM, in her pink bedroom, in the apartment she lived in for more than 50 years. As in life, she was beautiful, strong, intuitive, graceful, and loving during her transition. Her beloved daughter, Danette Herman, was with her and the tremendous friendship, respect, and love, they shared, surrounded them both the entire time. Ruth, born in Philadelphia on Sept. 9, 1921, lived in Los Angeles since 1941, with her late husband, Karl, and then on her own since 2000. She enjoyed an independent, full life and loved movies, theatre, television, art, books, the ocean, crossword puzzles, "Jeopardy", and primarily having good times with Danette. As she always said, 'I don't care where we go as long as we're together". The feeling was mutual...Ruth as mother was also best friend. Her long career as an Escrow Officer at Security Pacific Bank, provided her with the opportunity to take wonderful yearly (solo) vacations all over the world. Her passports are filled with stamps from: Russia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain, Germany, England, Austria, Lebanon, Switzerland, Egypt, Israel, Mexico, and more. Ruth's wishes are to be cremated and scattered in the ocean she loved so well. It is a special place she and Danette went to often, sitting on a bench on Ocean Avenue, in Santa Monica, holding hands, looking at the sailboats, or at clouds in the sky. A place of solace and rejuvenation. A place shared, then and always.
