Barbara Carolyn Jauregui

Barbara Carolyn Mapes Jauregui has passed away in Paso Robles California on February 24th, 2023. Barbara was born in Nogales Arizona on October 4th, 1935. She graduated from Miami Arizona High School in 1953. Following graduation she moved to Los Angeles California where she completed dental school and worked as a dental assistant. Barbara was married to Ray Jauregui in 1955. For the next 20 years they raised their family of four sons in La Puente and Walnut California. During this time Barbara worked as an Executive Secretary and Administrative Assistant for Cutter Laboratories and the Mattel Corporation. In 1975 the family moved to San Luis Obispo, California settling up in the Monterey Heights above Cuesta Park. Barbara worked for many years as an Instructor at Cuesta College in the Physical Education Department. She taught many sports but her specialty was aqua kinetics and pool based physical therapy. Barbara helped many San Luis Obispo County residents recover from injuries while also aiding the eldery in improving and maintaining there health and physical flexibility. She is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo University with a degree in Recreation Management, where she was also a counselor in the universities re-entry program for working adults. Barbara was also very active in the community and was a long serving docent at the Hearst Castle and the Jack House. A member of the Mt. Carmel lutheran church. She loved to hike the many trails in the area and frequently kayaked in Morro Bay into her late 70's. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded by her husband of 43 years Ray Jauregui and her daughter Monique, and is survived by her sons Mark & wife Jacki, Martin & wife Donna, Matthew & wife Kathy, and Michel, her sister Carmen & husband Skip Farr, her grandchildren Kari, Jimmy, Jackie, Angela, Andrea, Tim & Andy; along with seven great grandchildren and numerous nephews & nieces. There will be a Celebration of Life for Barbara on March 9th, 2023, at 3 pm, at 282 Templeton Cemetary Road, Paso Robles.
