Aug. 13, 1947- Mar. 15, 2018
With great sadness the family of David Burton Miner announces his passing after a brief illness, on Thursday, March, 15 2018, at the age of 70 years. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife
of 29 years, Iantha of Morro Bay; his daughter, Trista (James) Judson; grandchildren: Hailie and Alexander Judson of Van Alstyne, Texas; and brother, Tom (Janice) Miner of Flowery Branch, Georgia. David was predeceased by his parents, Burton and Virginia Miner; and sister, Sharron Savage of Tulare, California. David's lifelong career encompassed 45 plus years in the insurance sales and marketing industry. At the age of 21 he began his career as a Prudential Life Insurance Sales Agent and progressed as a sales and marketing principal for several insurance companies. As a top producer and regional manager, he qualified for and enjoyed many insurance convention trips to Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand,
Mexico and Hawaii. During his career, David recruited and trained many producers in
Northern and Central California. His scope of responsibilities were to help new producers setup
programs including computer support. He was tenacious in his managerial pursuits to make sure he
provided the best service to ensure their success! After a new producer's operation was running
smoothly, he kept in contact to make sure they achieved their goals and was awarded the distinction
of Top Regional Sales Manager of Allstate Workplace Division in the Western Territory. David was
born in Madison, Wisconsin where he resided until age 11 when he and his family moved to
Southern California. They later moved to Visalia, California where he attended local schools
including College of the Sequoias. David is remembered as a witty, dedicated and loving husband,
father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed a need for speed. His enthusiasm for motor sports and
boating provided many enjoyable times including building and racing dune buggies on the Central
Coast as a teenager and boating with his wife, Iantha and daughter, Trista on the San Joaquin Delta.
They owned various vessels including 35 and 28 ft. cruisers, ski boats, jet skis and a wind surfer. At
the point of retirement in 2014, he and Iantha moved from Stockton CA to Morro Bay, and became
members of the California Central Coast Porsche Club of America, enjoying many auto cross and
club events. Per David's wishes, no funeral services are planned and his ashes will be scattered at
sea during a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wilshire Home Health
and Wilshire Hospice, 277 South Street, Suites W&R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93402.
