Dorothy Pauline Sooter, peacefully relocated to heaven on Tuesday, October 3rd just a few weeks shy of her 89th birthday, after a long battle with Dementia.
Dorothy was born in Mendota Illinois on October 27, 1934. She was one of eight children born to Vern & Zaida Bruck. Dorothy was married to Richard S. Coles for 21-years after moving to California, and they have three children; Rick Coles (MAJ retired), Jim Coles, and Kacie Coles Moody. She was married to 'Doc' Sooter for 28-years until his death in 2007 … and she was an incredibly loving grandmother to each and every one of her grandchildren.
Dorothy truly lived to serve others! After becoming a Bible believing Christian in 1979 and surrendering ownership of her life to Jesus … she exemplified for all of us what Mark 12:30-31 says, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and friends … but the good news is she's not lost! There will be a great heavenly reunion for everyone who says 'Yes' to the free gift of salvation for those who sincerely believe that Christ died on the cross for their sins ... as God's desire is that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. The excited anticipation of seeing Dorothy again face-to-face can become a reality for anyone who genuinely does what we see from God's Word in Romans 10:9-10, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 6th at the Los Osos Valley Mortuary. Visitation from 11:00 to 12:00. Celebration of life service in the chapel from 1:00 to 2:00. Graveside immediately following the service at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LifeLine Pregnancy Center in Grover Beach where Dorothy faithfully served on staff as a counselor while she was in her 70s. Please contact them at: https://lifelinepregnancycenter.org/
