

Illa Mae Lohr, 96, of Santa Maria, California, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Illa Mae was known for her strength, her stubborn streak, and being unapologetically herself. She carried these qualities with grace, pairing them with a generous spirit and a deep commitment to those she loved. A lifelong educator, she dedicated more than 35 years to teaching in the Santa Maria Bonita School District, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
She is survived by her three children: Bob Lohr (D'Elin), John Lohr (Kristen), and Sue Johnson (Robert). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Natalie Bolin (Ben), Kim Masse (Brian), Kara Lowney (Eric), Brad Lohr (Alexas), Robby Lohr, Alex Lohr, James Lohr, Kacey Lohr, Eli Luevano, and Danielle Baker (Sean), along with nine great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
A graveside service will be held on September 17, 2025, at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to the Minerva Club Scholarship Fund, honoring Illa Mae’s lifelong devotion to education and her belief in the power of learning. Through this fund, her commitment to nurturing future generations will continue for years to come.
