

The "Road of Life" for John Edward "Zeke" Zombro, Jr., 91, has come to an end. Zeke passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Zeke was born and raised in Boyce, Va., where he attended high school and graduated in 1939. He went on to college at Washington and Lee Universirty. After graduation, Zeke enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended U.S.N.R. Midshipman's Supply School at Harvard Buisness School. Zeke served in the Pacific Campaign during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga until 1945. He was married to Hazel Mary Green of Needham, Mass., and together they had three children: John Edward III, Stephen Lee, and Nancy Ann. Zeke began a career with Sunkist Growers and enjoyed every day of his 38 years with the company. Following his retirement, Zeke moved from Southern California to the Bay Area and eventually settled in Los Osos. He loved to tell stories, of which he had many. He also enjoyed playing golf, working crossword puzzles, writing letters and walking his beloved dog, ''Lucky.'' He is survived by his son, Stephen; daughter, Nancy Bouchillon; and grandsons, Scott and Ian. He joins his wife, Hazel; son, John; brother, Earl; and dog, Lucky. Services will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00am at Los Osos Memorial Park. Donations can be made in Zeke's honor to the Central Coast Leatherneck Honor Guard.
