She is described as “always being joyful and holding such a beautiful light” that continued on in her 69 years on this earth. Always joyful, positive, loving and kind, any person who was blessed to meet or know her, felt that great power in her presence.
Our mother worked, for many years in Medical Records, advancing to an ICD-9 coder. She worked for many years at Valley Children’s Hospital before moving on to Sierra Vista Hospital and subsequently, CMC prison in San Luis Obispo County.
But her vivacious spirit didn’t dim in her retirement, as she went on to work at Costco, part time, doing food samples and providing customers with her quick wit and happiness, as well as her profound love of animals. She loved the fur babies, always feeding the chickens, giving love and snuggles to any of our pets. We know she is with Little Lady. ❤️
She is survived by her loving daughters: Laura, Deanna, Robin & Cheryl.
As well as her beloved grandchildren: Michael, Kailee, Emily, Claire, Zane, TJ, Jake, Leah & Olivia.
One of her greatest joys in these past few years was our beautiful McKenna, her great granddaughter, created by Michael & Mingma.
Truly, to see our mothers joy when interacting and seeing McKenna, well, it frankly is like a movie of her life, and her impact on us all.
The joy, laughter, love and silly-ness between them is the perfect explanation of how anyone who knew and loved her, felt, in her presence. She has now moved on to join her family, that are no longer with us: James, Laraine, Katie & Trisha. She is survived by her brother Mike. She gracefully left this earth on August 10, 2023 at 1233 am, with her daughters at her side. Please know that each of you, who are grieving this loss with all of us, you matter and meant something to our momma, Karen. And we appreciate the impact she’s had on all of us.
Each of the daughters, and subsequent children are here because of her, and our daddy, David Hernandez.
And we ARE who we are because of them.
Because of her.
Her legacy will continue on, in all of us who were blessed to know and love her. There will be a celebration in her honor, soon, and we will provide information on this,
in the coming weeks. Thank you for your impact on her life, as well.
She loves all of us, so much.
And we hope you will honor her by paying that love and joy forward to any one you interact with. That is what our momma would want: love shared over and again.
